| When you take a taxi or a Didi in China, the driver is often using a navigation system to drive you to the right destination. Have you ever tried to listen to it? Or maybe you want to describe how to get to a place to a friend? Here are some vocabularies that might help.  Navigation, to navigate: 导航 (dǎo háng) Highway: 高速公路 (gāosù gōnglù) To drive on the highway: 在高速公路上开车 (zài gāosù gōnglù shàng kāi chē) Road: 路 (lù) Driveway: 车道 (chēdào) Crosswalk: 人行横道 (rén xíng héng dào) Road sign: 交通标识 (jiāo tōng biāo zhì) Toll road: 收费公路 (shōu fèi gōng lù) Tollbooth: 收费站 (shōu fèi zhàn) Expressway: 高速公路 (gāosù gōnglù) One-way street: 单行道 (dān xíng dào) Pedestrian zone: 步行区 (bùxíng qū) Pedestrian walkway: 人行道 (rén xíng dào) Road closure: 道路关闭 (dàolù guānbì) Turn right: 右转 (yòu zhuǎn) Turn left: 左转 (zuǒ zhuǎn) Go straight: 直行 (zhí xíng) |
