How to say Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in Chinese

Meals are important and we have them every day. But do you know how to talk about breakfast, lunch and dinner in Chinese?

早饭 (zǎo fàn) - Breakfast
午饭 (wǔ fàn) - Lunch
晚饭 (wǎn fàn) - Dinner

All three words have two characters, and the second one in each word is the same: 饭 (fàn)
饭 (fàn) refers to cooked rice or other cereals and also means meal.
早 (zǎo) means morning, early, in advance or long ago. Together with 饭 (fàn) it means “morning meal”, so breakfast.
The meaning of 午 (wǔ) is noon or midday, so 午饭 (wǔ fàn) is the meal in the middle of the day, lunch.
Last but not least, the character 晚 (wǎn) means evening, night, late or far on in time. So, together with 饭 (fàn), the meaning of 晚饭 (wǎn fàn) is the evening meal, dinner.
Easy, right?

Examples:
你吃过早饭了吗?(nǐ chī guò zǎo fàn le ma) – Did you have breakfast yet?
你早饭吃什么?(nǐ zǎo fàn chī shén me) – What did you eat for breakfast?
今天午饭我想吃面。(Jīntiān wǔfàn wǒ xiǎng chī miàn) – Today I want to eat noodles for lunch.
午饭后我想睡个午觉。(wǔ fàn hòu wǒ xiǎng shuì ge wǔ jiào) – After lunch I want to take a nap.
你晚饭想吃什么?(nǐ wǎn fàn xiǎng  chī shén me) – What do you want to eat for dinner?
