No. 1: Arrival & Immigration - 到达与入境 (Dàodá yǔ Rùjìng) Once you land in China, look for signs saying 入境检查 (Rùjìng jiǎnchá). Or you can ask: Where is Passport Control / Immigration? 护照检查 / 入境检查在哪里？(Hùzhào jiǎnchá / Rùjìng jiǎnchá zài nǎlǐ?) Essential for the immigration officer's first question: 你来中国的目的是什么？(Nǐ lái Zhōngguó de mùdì shì shénme? - What is the purpose of your visit to China?) I am here for tourism/business. 我是来旅游/出差的。(Wǒ shì lái lǚyóu / chūchāi de.) Next, you need your luggage. Follow signs to 行李领取处 (Xínglǐ Lǐngqǔ chù - Baggage Claim Area).
